Civilization 7 Gameplay to Be Unveiled at Gamescom with In-Depth 20-Minute Preview

Firaxis has announced that the first Civilization 7 gameplay reveal will take place at Gamescom, and it will feature an in-depth look lasting over 20 minutes. The sequel to Civilization 6, which has been eagerly anticipated since its announcement at this year's Summer Game Fest in June, will finally showcase its gameplay later this month.

The news was shared via a tweet from Firaxis, confirming that fans can expect a comprehensive preview and a thorough exploration of the new features and mechanics of the game. In an accompanying blog post, the developers expressed their excitement, noting that Civilization is a game known for its vastness and depth, encompassing the entirety of human history as players build their empires in an attempt to endure through the ages. The blog post emphasized that, given the community’s love for detailed game mechanics, the upcoming gameplay reveal is highly anticipated.

Beyond the initial gameplay presentation, Firaxis disclosed that the Gamescom 2024 showcase will provide unique insights from the development team. This segment will delve into the innovative new features and the vision behind this groundbreaking addition to the franchise. Following Gamescom, Firaxis plans to attend PAX West in Seattle, where a developer panel will offer further insights and behind-the-scenes stories from the development process of Civilization 7.

While he didn't provide extensive details, he confirmed the game will be available on multiple platforms, including PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC, with a release planned for 2025.
