Is Valheim Coming to PlayStation Console?

Valheim, the Nordic survival game, was finally released on Microsoft consoles on February 2nd, 2023. This news has set the gaming community aflutter and courted speculations about the possibility of a release on other platforms. Recently, Jonathan Smars, senior developer of Iron Gate, the studio responsible for Valheim, gave an interview to the Xbox Expansion Pass channel where he left the question open. Can we expect a potential release of Valheim on PlayStation consoles? Or are we still stuck with Xbox?

Currently, Valheim is playable on PC and Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S consoles. The game can be accessed through the Game Pass subscription both on PC and Xbox. However, it should be noted that the version on both platforms is still offered as early access. As for PlayStation players, they still have to do without Valheim. 

In the interview with Xbox Expansion Pass, Jonathan Smars did not directly dismiss the possibility of a release on other platforms. He also noted that “You never know”. This statement, however, does not provide any concrete evidence of the release. 

Due to the open-ended interview statement and the ever-growing popularity of Valheim, it can be assumed that the Iron Gate studio might release the game on other platforms. Even though the developers have yet to confirm it, there’s certainly a glimmer of hope for PlayStation players outside the Xbox platform. 

In conclusion, Valheim, the Nordic survival game, has been released on both PC and Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S consoles. It can be accessed through the Game Pass subscription. Unfortunately, fans of PlayStation consoles have yet to experience the game. However, Jonathan Smars' brief comment in the interview about Xbox Expansion Pass might be an indication of a potential release on other platforms. Until then, PlayStation players can only wait and hope that the Iron Gate studio will grant them the same access to Valheim as Xbox players.
