Top 3 Western Games – Gamer’s Haven

Are you a fan of western games? Or do you want to know the top 3 western games of all time? Then you've come to the right place. In this article, I will list the top 3 western games.

Red Dead Redemption (RDR)

Developer: Rockstar Games

Genre: Action-adventure

Platform: Playstation 3 / Xbox 360 / Xbox One / Playstation 4 / PC

The first and foremost game that comes to mind when I think of Western games is Rockstar Games’ Red Dead Redemption. Originally released in May 2010 for the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360, the game was a huge hit and was praised for its beautiful world design, its compelling story, and its interesting characters. The game takes place in the year 1911 in the fictional state of West Elizabeth, where you play as former outlaw John Marston trying to make amends with his family. The game follows a linear story progression, where you go from one mission to the next.

RDR’s gameplay is a hybrid between an action game and an open-world game. During the story missions, the gameplay is very similar to Rockstar’s previous game Grand Theft Auto IV, where you run around and shoot at enemies with your weapons.

When not doing missions, you can roam around the open world as you please, ride horses, hunt animals, do bounty hunts, and do random tasks for people. The world is huge and beautiful, with a number of different landscapes and environments.

Far Cry 5

Developer: Ubisoft

Genre: Shooter

Platform: PlayStation 4 / Xbox One / PC

Far Cry 5 is an action-adventure video game with role-playing elements. In Far Cry 5, the player takes control of a character who is a deputy sheriff of the fictional Hope County, Montana, United States. The player comes to Hope County to arrest Joseph Seed, the leader of a militaristic religious cult.

The player is assisted by various law enforcement and other characters who have been wronged by the cult. You are given the freedom to explore Hope County and its surroundings, which includes multiple towns, outposts, and locations that are based on real-world counterparts.

Far Cry 5 has the player complete various quests to advance the main story and the side quests.

Fallout: New Vegas

Developer: Obsidian Entertainment

Genre: RPG

Platform: PC / Xbox 360 / Playstation 3 / Playstation 4 / Xbox One

Released in 2010, Obsidian Entertainment’s Fallout: New Vegas is a direct sequel to Obsidian’s own Fallout 2. The game takes place in the year 2281 in the post-apocalyptic world of the American Southwest, where you play as a courier that was shot and left for dead in the town of Goodsprings.

After some time, you regain consciousness and you are given a powerful gun called the “Vera”, which is capable of shooting through walls and other obstacles. The gun becomes your primary weapon throughout the game and serves as your tool for survival.

The gameplay in Fallout: New Vegas is similar to Fallout 3‘s, where you can either choose to go through the main story missions or go off the beaten path and explore the open world. The game features a number of factions that you can join, and the game’s S.P.E.C.I.A.L. system allows you to play the game the way you want.
