In Sons of the Forest, players find themselves crash-landing on a remote island and having to face the cannibalistic forest inhabitants almost immediately. As they progress through the open-world survival horror experience, they'll encounter certain areas requiring keycards to enter and unlock the forest's secrets. Keycards directly impact the adventure, as they provide access to powerful weapons, collectibles, and gear. In this guide, we'll show you all the locations of the keycards and how to get to them.

Locating the Maintenance Keycard

The first keycard you'll need to find is the Maintenance Keycard. It requires the rebreather, rope gun, and shovel to obtain. The Maintenance Keycard is located in an underground bunker on the island's north side, marked with a pulsating green circle on the GPS. South of the green marker is a purple GPS locator marker where you can find the flashlight. When you reach the dig site, use the shovel to dig up the mound of dirt in the middle of the site. A hatch door will appear, and you can climb down the ladder into a small room with supply crates. 

Head down the hallway to a furnished apartment, and you'll find the Maintenance Keycard sitting on a desk next to a 3D Printer. It belongs to a maintenance man named Carl Planter. You can also use the bed in the corner to sleep or save your game. The Fireman's axe is inside a glass case on the wall in the storage room. Be sure to take care of the mutant babies before exploring further. 

Uncovering the VIP Keycard

The next card you'll need to get is the VIP Keycard. It's located in another underground bunker hidden inside a cave entrance. Go to the northernmost green circle south of one of the purple GPS locators, and you'll see a vast lake near it on the map. Look for the two golf carts in front of a cave entrance and go inside. Follow the tunnel to a hatch door that says Food and Dining across the front of it. Inside, you'll find a destroyed kitchen area with food and bodies strung along the ceiling. 

Go to the locked door at the back right side of the room and use Carl's card to open it. Inside, you'll find a sizeable hydroponic garden room. There's also a crossbow in this area. Keep going, and you'll eventually come to an office with several computers, file containers, and security footage monitors. The VIP keycard is sitting on the desk below the monitors, and it belongs to Virginia Puffton. 

Locating the Guest Keycard 

The final keycard you'll need to get is the Guest Keycard. It's located in an underground Recreational Center hidden within one of the caves. Begin by going to the green circle south of the maintenance dig site and east of the western beach. Near the river, you'll see a broken-down golf cart and an unmarked cave entrance. Go inside the cave and follow the tunnel until you reach a room with a cot, supplies, and a 3D Printer. 

Squeeze through the wall gap to the left of the main corridor, and you'll come to a hall with locked doors at the end. Use the Maintenance keycard to unlock them, and you'll find yourself in a dark room with a purple light. Follow the light and take a left toward the reception desk. As you move through the rooms, be prepared for mutants. 

At the top of the stairs, you'll find the clubroom. In the middle of the room is a deceased man with a guitar shoved down his throat. Go to the back of the clubroom to the booths, and you'll find the Guest keycard on the back right table with the five corpses. There's also a guitar that you can use as a melee weapon at the bar. Before leaving, make sure to search the tables and the storage room for cash and ammo. 

Exiting the Underground Bunker

To leave the area, head back to the pool bar and look to the left, where another set of security doors exists. Use the Guest keycard to unlock the doors, and you'll find yourself in a brightly lit hallway. Follow the hallway into another small lounge area with a door on the right. This will take you down a corridor with several mutant babies and into an exit cave. With all three keycards in hand, you'll be able to complete your journey and uncover the mysteries of the island.
